Tamarindo - Guanacaste
Tamarindo is a beach town that has developed rapidly during the last ten years and now is the most developed beach town of the Guanacaste province, also being one of the main destinations for beach holiday in Costa Rica.
This noisy town is the convergence center for surfers and the proximity to the Liberia International airport, makes Tamarindo one of the first stops for many visitors to the sunny beaches of Guanacaste.
In 1994, the film "Endless Summer II" put Tamarindo on the maps for vacationers and the town began to grow. In recent years, the new international airport was an important bust to the town since shortens the flying time from North America to Tamarindo to only a few hours.
The real estate, the construction and sale of condominiums and shopping centers and all related activities are booming. Now you can find a wide variety of entertainment, difficult to find elsewhere in Costa Rica. There are local newspapers in English, spa and health facilities, nearby golf courses,supermarkets and delicatessens, banks, a variety of shops and water sport activities as diving, sailing, surfing and sport fishing.
In Tamarindo there are plenty of hotels to accommodate all budgets and styles from backpacker hostels, surfer oriented, to five star hotels as the Marriott Pinilla hotel.
It is important to mention the wide variety of dining options in Tamarindo, which has some of the best restaurants in Costa Rica.

The wide, sandy bay of Tamarindo stretches for miles offering enough space for beach activities and sun lovers. However, swimmers should be careful of strong rip currents and rocks in some sections of the Tamarindo Beach.
Tamarindo is bordered on both sides by large rivers where extensive mangrove estuaries are protected as biological reserves.
